Using the latest in capacitor technology, most motherboard manufacturers are now using solid state caps or ones that are not filled with oil that eventually fail. Better power management features is also a new addition to their arsenal, allowing the motherboard in conjunction with the processor to decide how much power to use allowing optimal operation.

Capacitors used to signal their demise in a puff of acrid smoke you smell signifying the death of your computer’s mobo. Using solid state capacitors also has the benefit of less space, for solid state’s have smaller footprints thus better airflow.

Cooling fans tend to work best and with many aftermarket brands and types around, they are essential for keeping your computer cool.

Choosing the best would be a good investment but you should also remember to keep things clean. Dust on components tends to heat things up a bit causing components to prematurely fail. Simple dusting of all the CPU or the box that contains everything else asides from the mouse keyboard and monitor is essential. It maximizes the performance of the fans to keep the components cool especially if you tend to overclock for gaming applications. You might want to get a high end cooler for your video card too just for good measure.

They usually come in the box pre-set to optimal settings and the manual has simple instructions, enough for medium techies to experiment enough to get the most of their recent purchase. Be sure to know what you’re doing and do ask questions or better yet get the shop to do the swap should you not know what a jumper block is.

Most PC boards have BIOS set optimal settings that can to some extent override hardware jumper settings. But just to be sure, leave the jumpers as they are unless you are doing some major tweaking such as overclocking.

Anticipation is really getting stronger especially now that Sandy Bridge mini-ITX motherboards are beginning to be rolled out. I myself might get one of these mobos and give it a test spin. It will be interesting to see how much of a performance boost we will get with this new technology. With Diablo III on its way, this may be a great time to upgrade.

Choosing a motherboard PC in most cases would require a careful reference to Motherboard manual and other pertinent documents. There are a lot of motherboards available in the market, yet it is gleaned important that you very well know how to choose the right one. One of the most essential factors to look at is the type of processor it supports. There should also be enough memory slots that will be able to hold up the sound and graphic system, the support of the hard drives and CD ROM and lastly the connections among other hardware like mouse and keyboard.

When someone buys something, many things are considered. Primarily the brand and how much would it cost you to get one. When we buy something that is often used, we make sure that the brand we get is the best. But sometimes we are fooled by how the packaging appears. This mistake mostly happens when we buy a PC. We don’t check each and every part that actually matters a lot, that could help us use the PC for a longer time.

Let me give you some tips, always compare prices and don’t forget to check what’s inside it, just like when you buy a motherboard.

As expected for an ASUS board, the P5N-E SLI’s motherboard design lay out is very good, but not perfect. The southbridge has been left exposed without any form of cooling (although this is not much of an issue) and overclocking the P5N-E SLI may scare away some enthusiasts. The fan-less board design is an innovative. Its north bridge heatsink is very large though, allowing it to gather plenty of air-flow circulating around the case. Also the PCI Express slots were spaced far to each other unlike dual 8800 GTX boards

The Marvell 88E1116 controller is what drives the single on-board Gigabit LAN. Aside from having four internal SATA300 ports situated at the motherboard there is also a single eSATA port for portable hard drives.

The The ASUS P5N-E SLI’s 6-channel audio support comes from a Realtek ALC883 CODEC using audio sensing and enumeration technology. Plus it also has two Firewire (IEEE1394a) ports, one of which is located on the I/O panel. Besides these the P5N-E SLI includes a long list of ASUS brand features such as Q-Connector, O.C. Profile, Q-Fan2 and many others.

Motherboards usually differ in the kind of chipsets used in a computer. Hence, when selecting the best chipset that would match your preference, one must look into the factors like the RAM it will be capable of supporting and if it can sustain a PCI and the parallel ATA that is essential for older hard disks. After keenly checking on this side, it is also salient to find out the other functions handled by chipsets. The integrated graphics is one element which is ideal for those who are into high end graphic detail, the kind of effects it has and the speed.
